Aaron Baker Workout

Aaron Baker Bodybuilder

Aaron Baker nicknamed "Batman" and "Dark Angel", was an IFBB and WBF professional bodybuilder, who many felt had a flawless physique that combined mass, cuts, balance and symmetry. In his top shape he was 5'8" tall 236 lbs with wide shoulders and back tapering down to a small waist and flaring out to sweeping thighs and diamond calves.

Aaron Baker's Workout

Like most bodybuilders of the time Aaron was a volume trainer, but he reached a point where his gains stopped and he even started to lose muscle mass. He told Mike Mentzer the training routine he was following and Mike said with no hesitation "You're overtraining, you can ether train hard or you can train long but you can't do both.", this made sense to Aaron so he decided to switch to high intensity training.

Aaron baker's training routine changed to only 3 to 4 workouts a week with no session lasting more than 45 minutes.

An example of his chest workout would be he would do incline bench press, first with a light weight for 15 to 20 reps. Then increase the weight by 50 percent and do another 15 to 20 reps. After this warm up he would load the bar up to about 435 pounds and do as many reps as he could, rest only 10 seconds and do it again. He sometimes used strip sets, negatives and other methods to make it more intense.

Next he would do dumbbell flys, he would do two warm up sets and then take 105 pound dumbbells and go to failure, again resting only 10 seconds and doing another set. He would also use forced reps and drop sets to totally exhaust the muscles.

His comment to people that didn't want to try this type of training, was "Fine, I'll see you in about 30 pounds."
